Mrs. Selma M. Washington, 70, of Blytheville, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. She was born in Haynes and came to Blytheville 42 years ago from West Memphis. She was a member of New Immanuel Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was employed by the Blytheville School District as a custodian at Burdette prior to her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.T. Rogers and Leola Swanigan Hampton; her step-father, Theodis Hampton; and her infant son, Isaiah.

Mrs. Washington is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Doris Williams and Mrs. Martha (and Ricky) Jefferson, all of Blytheville, and Mrs. Sandra Almond, stationed with the United States Navy in Norfolk, Va.;

Two sons, Roger Washington and Herman (and Nicole) Washington, all of Blytheville; and

Seventeen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Immanuel Baptist Church on South Elm, the Rev. Burton Furlow, Pastor. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Gardens Cemetery.
