Ms. Gloria S. Howard, 70, of Blytheville, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at her home. Born in Blytheville to Eugene "Pete" and Nola B. Howard, she was a graduate of Harrison High School and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (AM&N). She received her master's degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

She was a very active and dedicated member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and a past president of the Women's Missionary Society and the past president of the matrons. She was a member of the Blytheville Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her father, Pete Howard; her brother, Alvon; and sisters, Doris and Loretta.

Ms. Howard leaves her mother, Mrs. Nola Howard of Blytheville;

Her daughter, Asia Birdsong of Blytheville;

Two sisters, Bulah Hodge and Margaret A. Brazzeal of Houston;

Two brothers, Jessie Benson of Memphis and Eugene Howard of Blytheville; and

Nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Monday at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church on West Street, where the pastor is the Rev. Johnnie E. Moore. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blytheville.
