Freezing rain expected overnight

Thursday, January 24, 2013

A freezing rain advisory is in effect for Mississippi County from 9 tonight until 9 a.m. Friday.

Forecasters say there is a slight chance or rain or freezing rain during the evening hours, with the chances of freezing rain or freezing drizzle becoming more likely after midnight. Less than one-quarter of an inch is expected, but the chance of precipitation is about 70 percent, forecasters say.

Overnight temperatures are expected to hold steady around 30.

Any overnight ice accumulation will likely be short-lived, with Friday's temperatures expected to reach the mid-40s. Nonetheless, driving conditions early in the morning could be hazardous, and caution is urged.

Warmer weather is in the forecast for early next week, with highs in the 60s expected on Monday and Tuesday.
