A Blytheville student lost his life after suffering fatal gunshot wounds while walking home from school Thursday afternoon.
Miguel Estrada, 18, of Blytheville was shot in the 1100 block of Holly Street around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Blytheville Superintendent Richard Atwill said it is believed the shooter was also a Blytheville student.
Two Blytheville juveniles, ages 16 and 15, were apprehended shortly after the incident, Thompson said. The 15-year-old male was released while the other remains in custody. Thompson added the juvenile in custody will be facing charges in connection with the shooting death of Estrada.
"Although the incident is still under investigation, this is not a random act of violence," Thompson said. "Estrada and the juveniles knew each other and appear to have a history of threats between them."
