Letter to the Editor

God's Providence intervened in election

To the editor:

America made a choice between two fundamentally different visions for this nation's future. The American voters rejected one, and re-elected another. The president has done great things for this country; the stimulus, the auto bailouts, Obamacare, tax cuts for the working class, equal pay for women, student loans and changed the ways credit card companies could charge you, etc.

President Obama is going to be president for four more years. He has been elected for two terms, so he must be doing a good job, so let him finish what the voters elected him to do. I joined the president's team in the 2008 cycle as a team leader. I traveled all around helping him out, and I met a lots of interesting people, and I will never forget this experience. Sure, we should celebrate the president's victory, but the president has to be held accountable to those who elected him, and not betray his base.

We love the president, but we will fight not to have Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security on the table for bargaining. President Obama has been tried by fire. He has been attacked with disgusting and insulting comments throughout his presidency, but he kept himself under control; this is a mark of a true leader. There is more than meets the eye in the president's two elections. I noticed something in President Obama first elected, and also his re-election, called providence of God, that was taught in the early church. I told my wife and two sons to believe God was in the president's election and never wavered. They wanted to know how I know this.

I first pointed to what my daddy told me 47 years ago, about we will have a black president one day, and he would be highly educated. Well, he lived to see the black president. I explained to them how God's Providence works in the affairs of man and nations in the Bible. You can't see God's Providence in its face, but when you look back, you can see God's Providence at hand. Read the case of Joseph. I want you to notice the change of events, 13 years of Providence events. Joseph told his brothers not to grieve, nor be angry with yourselves, that you sold me hither, for God did send me before you to preserve life. God used a number of people and circumstances to make Joseph prime minister of Egypt. In the case of America, God placed Obama in charge, a man who will carry out his will for the good of this country. Jesus Christ was never given any credit for the president's two victories. You may say, what God has to do with it? Well, first, you must understand your Bible, about God's Providence, and how he intervenes in nations' affairs. In the Old Testament, God said that he puts up kings and He takes them down. Well, how does God do it today? He uses the ballot box (uses the people). In most cases, God uses people to carry out his will, and He also uses other means. I want you to look back into President Obama's two elections and see the change of events that led up to both elections. God knew the natures of both, McCain and Romney, and I believe they were not the ones who God wanted to run this country. You may notice that I did not name the events in President Obama's elections, because I want you to see them for yourself.

God works out everything according to the purpose of His will, Ephesians 1:11. We tend not to recognize how intimately God is involved in everything that happens on Earth. If we truly believe that God is sovereign, we need to accept the fact that He will exercise His sovereignty in the way that He chooses, and not necessarily in the way that we think He should. "Those who want to see, God will let."

The Whig Party was once in power, but they would not change with the times, and they became destiny. If the Republican Party doesn't find a way to rid themselves from the Tea Party, they will become destiny, just like the Whig Party. My son, Benard, has asked me three times to write about how I believe God's Providence intervened in President Obama's elections. It wasn't easy for me to write this letter, but after my son asked me three times, I give it to you, like the Spirit gave it to me. You may disagree with my faith, but you will not change my faith.
