Mr. Hugh Edward House, 74, of Sycamore, Ill., died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Ill.

He was born Feb. 2, 1938 in Tomato, the son of John M. and Beulah (Tillman) House and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1965-1967.

He was a union carpenter for Local 250, retiring after 50 years of service. Hugh enjoyed gardening and wood-working.

His father, John Marvin House, and brother, Gerald Owen House, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Christina (and Ryan) House Calkins of Cortland, Ill., and Stephen (and Serenity) House of Leland, Ill.;

His grandchildren, Colton Allen, Willow House and Xavier House;

His mother, Beulah Tillman House of Blytheville;

Six brothers, Virgil (and Patti) House of Des Plaines, Ill., James "Buddy" (and Marie) House of Roscoe, Ill, John House of Decatur, Ala.; Terry (and Sandra) House of Knoxville, Tenn., Richard (and Barbara) House of Batesville, and Michael (and Sherri) House of Jackson, Mo.;

Four sisters, Mary Ann (and Tom) House Spann of Benton, Norma Sue (and Richard) House Zerbini of San Jose, Calif., Glenda House Westrich of Kelso, Mo., and Lisa (and Tim) House Booth of Walnut Ridge;

One uncle, Sam Louis Tillman Jr. of Blytheville;

Two aunts, Lois Tillman Barger of West Memphis and Patricia Tillman of Genoa, Ill.;

His cousin, Larry Dingler of Sycamore, Ill.; and

Many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Dogwood Cemetery in Blytheville. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.cobbfuneralhome.com
