Mrs. Johnie E. Whitaker, 86, of the West Hermondale, Mo., community, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.

She was born in Pecan Point, the daughter of Henry and Susiana Johnson. She attended Harrison High School in Blytheville.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Gospel Temple Church in Memphis and was a faithful loving member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Hermondale.

"Ms. Johnie" as she was so lovingly called, was a gifted seamstress and after her retirement spent countless hours cooking, baking, sewing, knitting and quilting because she loved it.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jessie; and her son, William O. Hall.

Her survivors include two sons, Michael Hall and Steven Coleman, both of Memphis;

Two daughters, Jacqueline Times and Vonda Pollard of Memphis;

Two cousins, Mrs. Margaret (and Solomon) Ellington of Memphis and Mrs. Virginia Done of Blytheville;

A Godson, Eric Phillips of South Carolina;

A special family who she loved as her own, the Whaley family, Laddie, Pauline, Melissa, Larry and Jeremy;

One aunt, Mrs. Elnora Chandler of Joliet, Ill.;

Special friends, Louise Chalmers, Doris Smith, Ms. Della Shite and the Wright Singers; and

Other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Loving Jesus Ministries at Elm and El Dorado street in Blytheville with Elder Parnell pastor and the Rev. Laddie Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Holland, Mo. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Friday at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home in Blytheville.
