Texas couple finds hospitality in Blytheville

Thursday, November 1, 2012

To the editor:

This past Thursday (Oct. 25), my wife and I were forced to land our small aircraft at Arkansas International Airport in Blytheville.

An oil leak made it imperative that we get on the ground quickly. After removing the cowling, we found that we needed a section of hose to make repairs in order to continue our flight to Dallas.

At this point, we discovered the meaning of true Arkansas hospitality. The airport manager, Mr. Jerry Vest, without hesitation became involved. He drove to the nearest hardware store, secured the necessary hose and assisted us in making temporary repairs. Additionally, he called Paul Newell Car Rentals and arranged for a rental car so that we could spend the night before continuing our flight home.

What began as an extremely stressful day turned out to be a pleasant experience. We enjoyed a brief tour of your city, a good night's rest in the Holiday Inn and two delightful meals at Perkins restaurant.

We will not forget the courtesies and hospitality extended by Mr. Jerry Vest and the good folks in your outstanding city.
