Mrs. Mary Jane Bourland, 87, of Batesville, a former Manila resident and widow of Mr. Guy H. Bourland, passed from this life Monday Oct. 22, 2012, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. Born at Walnut, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Jim and Effie Sassar Brady and had been a resident of the Lost Cane Community and Manila area for over 70 years. She was a retired order clerk for American Greetings in Osceola and a longtime member of the Little River Missionary Baptist Church near Manila. She had been a Batesville resident for the past year.

Survivors include one son, Kenny Bourland of Manila;

A daughter, Renee Bell of Batesville;

One brother, Butch Brady of Wauconda, Ill.;

Four sisters, Dorothy Turner of Manila. Bonnie Carpenter of Wautoma, Wisc., Faye Daniel of Southaven, Miss., and Carolyn Downing of Nacogdoches, Texas.

Mrs. Bourland also leaves three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Little River Missionary Baptist Church near Manila with the Rev. G. W. Endicott officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
