Imogene Beggs Elder

Mrs. Imogene Beggs Elder, 81, of Blytheville passed from this life Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Great River Medical Center.

Born in Holcomb, Mo., to Frank and Anie Davis Beggs, she was a former cafeteria worker at Gosnell Middle and Elementary Schools and a longtime member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. Imogene was a graduate of Holcomb High School. She enjoyed cooking and reading and was a former member of the church choir. She loved all church activities but her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Imogene was preceded in death by three sisters, Rita Bailey, Velma Potter and Louise Bonfoe.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jay Elder, of the home;

Her sons, Ricky Elder and wife, Reba, of Blytheville, and Guy Elder of Gosnell;

A brother, Wincell Beggs

Her sisters, Betty Mansfield and Nellie Broglin, all of Holcomb;

A grandson, Justin Elder;

Step-grandchildren, Jeff Walmsley and Breanne Redding; and

A great-grandchild, Cashton Redding.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mitchell King Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. An online register may be signed at www.cobbfuneralhome.com
