Mrs. Irene Dobbins Thompson, 78, of Blytheville passed from this life Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at her home.

Born in Pocahontas to Austin and Bertha Jones Dobbins, Irene attended Milligan Ridge Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Irene retired from Thompson Plumbing where she was a bookkeeper. She enjoyed working in her garden and growing roses but her greatest joy in life was being a devoted mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thompson, and a brother, Charles "Sallee" Dobbins.

Irene is survived by her children, Robert Thompson of West Point, Miss., Frances Nelson, Karen Glasscock and her granddaughter raised in the home, Jane Lunsford, all of Blytheville;

Her grandchildren, Johnny, Silvia, Jane, Mallory, Abbey, Tyler and Conrad;

Her great grandchildren, Maranda, Alyssa, Skylar, Natalie, Lauren and Tate; and

Three brothers, Eugene Dobbins and wife, Imogene, and Glen Dobbins, both of Manila, and Lenn Dobbins and wife, Margaret, of Blytheville.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby McDaniel officiating. Entombment will follow in the Dogwood Mausoleum in Dogwood Cemetery.
