Ruby Swihart Thurmond

Born Sept. 9, 1914 in Leachville, she was the daughter of the late Merrill and Mable Brown Swihart. She was a graduate of Arbyrd High School and a member of the Big Lake Country Club.

She was a homemaker and an avid Bridge player.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Thurmond, one son, Tommy Thurmond, one brother, Johnnie Swihart, and one sister, Lila Croom.

Mrs. Thurmond leaves two nephews, Leon Swihart and David Rose, both of Leachville;

Seven nieces, Betty Carter and Carol Jones, both of Little Rock, Mary Shupback of Scottsdale, Ariz., June Cude of Kearny, Ariz, Patricia Fortenberry of Rogers, Terry Wallace of Jonesboro, and Patti Snider of Leachville; and

One sister, Ruth Rose of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. David Price officiating.

Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
