Mr. Garlen Edvon Self, 60, of Blytheville, passed from this life Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at his home.

Garlen was born in Deering, Mo., to Doyle and Melba Bagsby Self, was a veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served in the US Marines and was of the Pentecostal Faith. Garlen was an avid fisherman. He loved to listen to country music and fix items and also enjoyed wood-working projects for his home. He was a certified aluminum welder and fabricator and was employed by Blytheville Sheet Metal, prior to becoming disabled.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Melba Self.

Garlen is survived by his wife, Janice Faye Marbry Self, of Gosnell;

His children, Edward Lee Self, of Tucson, Aria., and Kevin Self and wife, Robin, of Gosnell; and

Four grandchildren, Avery Bennett, Courtney Bennett, Guy Bennett Jr. and Allison Hughes Self.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cobb Funeral Home is in charge of services. An online register may be signed at cobbfuneralhome.com
