A little digging produces answers and movement toward change

In my column of May 1, I lamented the fact that Mississippi County had not implemented Arkansas Act 1404, which changes the jury pool from those people who register to vote, as it stands now, to those people with driver's licenses and state identification cards. Many counties, including most of the counties in northeast Arkansas, have made this change. This eliminates the excuse people use for not registering to vote, because registering to vote is no longer the thing that makes you eligible for jury duty, and would facilitate registering many new voters in this county alone.
