Mr. John T. Abbott, 86, of Blytheville, passed from this life Friday, June 22, 2012, at Flo and Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born in Kennett, Mo., to Jack and Edith Greene Abbott, he was owner of Abbott Trucking and was a Veteran of WWII, proudly serving in the United States Army. John was a member of the VFW, Clean Fun Club and the Senior Citizens Center and was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by his wife, Laverne Abbott, of the home;

His children, Dale Abbott and wife, Beth, of Manchester, Tenn., Debi Gruver and husband, Jim, of Lake Forest, Calif., Patty Triplett, of Aurora, Ill., Donna Applequist and husband, Tom, of Somonauk, Ill., and Marilyn Thompson of Freeport, Ill.; and

Twelve grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, Ark..
