Buddy Joe Layton Sr.

Mr. Buddy Joe Layton Sr., 83, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Blytheville. He married his life-long partner of 64 years, Jean (Wagnon) Layton May 13, 1948.

Buddy was a lifetime member of the Masons, Chickasawba Masonic Lodge No. 134. He was employed by Entergy for 37 years and was a volunteer fireman in Blytheville for 20 years. He enjoyed 28 years of retirement by fishing, hunting and living in the hills of Randolph County.

He was preceded in death by his father, Taylor C. Layton, and mother, Bessie (Lovelace) Layton; one son, Buddy Joe Layton Jr.; and one granddaughter, Julie Nicole (Layton) Rountree.

He is survived by his wife, Jean;

One daughter, Yvonda "Yonnie" Layton of Pocahontas;

One son, Criss Layton of Pocahontas; and

Two granddaughters, Cortney Layton Morris and Kristen Layton of The Woodlands, Texas.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Taylor-Cox Funeral Home in Pocahontas with funeral services following immediately after.
