Viola Lucas

Mrs. Viola Lucas, 81, of Gosnell, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. Born July 10, 1930, in Luxora, she was a housewife and a founding member of Holy Temple Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Blytheville, where she served on the Motherboard and as Kitchen President.

Her parents, Henry Johnson and Lucy Taylor Johnson, preceded her in death, as did her husband, Robert Lucas Sr. Other family members preceding Mrs. Lucas in death included a son, Larry Claybrooks; two sisters, Mary Lee Conley and Elnora Lucas; and four brothers, Willie Louis, Roy and Amos Johnson.

She leaves four daughters, Stella (and Jerry) Henderson, Linda Carol (and John) Blair, Patricia (and Brian) Jones, and Danette (and Bruce) Davis, all of Blytheville;

Six sons, Herbert (and Sheila) Lucas, Henry Lee (and Vera) Lucas Sr., Robert (and Lillie) Lucas Jr., Vancell (and Martha) Lucas Sr., all of Blytheville, and Andrew (and Gloria) Lucas Sr. and Darron (and Laverne) Lucas of Gosnell;

Four special nieces, Lottie B. Robinson of St. Louis, Mary Wilburn and Lula Mae Carpenter of Chicago, and Dora Conley of Blytheville; and

Thirty-seven grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville with funeral services set for 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Temple Church of the Lord Jesus Christ with Bishop Vancell Lucas officiating.. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
