Mr. Rodney Lee Riggs, 51 of Manila, passed from this life Monday, May 7, 2012, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science Medical Center in Little Rock following a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Blytheville, he was the great-great-grandson of Manila pioneer Flenord Riggs and had been a lifelong Manila resident. Rodney was a 1980 graduate of Manila High School and was employed for nearly 30 years as a machine specialist for American Greetings Company in Osceola. Rodney was a longtime member of the Community Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Griggs Riggs of the home;

His parents, Ronald and Betty Daniel Riggs of Manila;

One brother, Alan Riggs of Manila;

One step-son, Kelly Stewart of Manila;

One step-daughter, Angel Hembrey of Manila; and

Two step-grandsons, Michael and Gaige Edwards of Manila.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Jerry Pentecost officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.
