Cynthia Ann Potter Doherty

Mrs. Cynthia Ann Potter Doherty, resident of the Oakland Community, wife of Ken Doherty and a former 911 Emergency Police Dispatcher, departed this life Wednesday morning April 4, 2012, at her residence. She was 65 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Doherty were conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Shawn Snyder, Associate Minister of the Macon Road Baptist Church in Memphis, officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by the Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Doherty was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Texarkana, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Leon Potter and Marjorie Nix Potter. She moved with her family to Blytheville at an early age and received her education in the Arkansas Public School System. She was a former resident of Mississippi County and served as a Certified 911 Emergency Police Dispatcher for the Arkansas State Police in the Blytheville area for a number of years. She was also a licensed professional cosmetologist and had been a resident of Fayette County for the past nine years.
Mrs. Doherty was married Oct. 18, 1998, to Kenneth Aaron (Ken) Doherty, a retired U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who is now employed as a corporate pilot and flight instructor. She was a Christian and enjoyed special times with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Doherty is survived by her husband;

Three step-daughters, Lisa Ann Laland of Henderson, Nev., Kristin Boehme of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tracie Mobley who lives in Germany;

One sister, Kim Warenfelds of Blytheville;

One brother, Jerry Lee Potter of Blytheville; and

Nine grandchildren.
