Hollis D. Medford

Mr. Hollis D. Medford, 84, of Blytheville, passed from this life Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Great River Medical Center.

Born in Cherokee, Ala., to John Jackson and Ida Roxie Anderson Medford, he was a retired bus operator for Chicago Transit Authority and a member of Cole Ridge Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon.

Hollis was a World War II, U.S. Navy Veteran and was a member of the Blytheville American Legion.

He liked going to the Grand Ole Opry, watch baseball, play golf, loved family get-togethers during the holidays and enjoyed cookouts with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ella Maxwell Medford of the home;

His children, Michael Medford and wife, Debbie, of Keiser, Patricia Clark and husband, Harry, of Round Lake, Ill., Claudette Bacon and husband, Tim, of Columbus, Wisc., and Steve Medford and wife, Sharon of Wauconda, Ill.; and

Six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be heldat 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Walker officiating. Entombment will follow in Dogwood Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Home. An online register may be signed at www.cobbfuneralhome.com
