Mr. Ralph E. Jacks, 79, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at his home. He was born Jan. 29, 1932, in Rowell, a son of the late Jim and Radie Starks Jacks. Mr. Jacks served in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He retired from Lucent Technologies where he was a telephone installer and a Baptist. Mr. Jacks was a member of the Rowell Hunting Club and the NWRRA. He loved spending time with family and friends. Mr. Jacks enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, boxing, welding and flower gardens.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Brown; two sons, Larry Jacks and Garry Jacks; four brothers, Junior Jacks, Joe Jacks, Jerry Jacks and R.L. Jacks.

Mr. Jacks leaves his wife, Joyce Lawson Jacks of Jonesboro;

Two sons, Dewayne Jacks of Jonesboro and Jimmy Jacks of Lacey, Washington;

One brother and sister-in-law, James and Pauline Jacks of Rison;

Two sisters, Anlean Vinson of Rowell, Fern Vinson of Cabot;

Three sisters-in-law, Geneva Smith and Dorothy Lawson of Little Rock and Helen and Robert White of Blytheville; and

Ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 a.m. today at Center Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Doney Blackerby officiating. Visitation was prior to the service. Burial followed in Rowell Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Lawson, Robert White, James White, David Lawson, Dewayne Jacks and Jimmy Jacks. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Jacks, Paul Wayne Donaldson, Donald Ray Kesterson, John Wallace and Donald Parrish. Memorials may be made to Center Missionary Baptist, 60 Cole Road, Rison, AR 71665.
