Sally Marie Jones passed this life Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at Wagnon Place Nursing Home in Warren. She was born July 21, 1938, in Warren to the late Earl and Myrtle Jones.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Delmar, Earl Jr., Charles, Curtis and Eugene; and three sisters Frances, Betty Ann and Mary Katherine.

Ms. Jones united with Bethel A.M.E. Church at an early age. She attended Bradley County High School and graduated in 1956. She was a 1960 graduate of AM&N College (U.A.P.B.) in Pine Bluff. She received a Master's Degree in counseling from Henderson State University in 1970 and taught elementary school for ten years. She was the first African American Elementary Counselor in the Osceola School District and served for 23 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving son, Curtis Leroy Jones;

One devoted sister, Peggy Jane Dison of North Little Rock;

A special niece, Earlean Jones of Warren;

One sister-in-law, Georgia Jones of Mt. Olive Community in Hermitage;

First cousins JoAnn Tayborn of North Little Rock and Mattie Williams of Warren;

Special friends of the family Ruth Clary, Dorothy Hamilton, the Kinseys, Streets, and the late Clara M. Riley, all of Osceola; and

A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Shalane Jenkins, will be held at noon Wednesday at Bethel AME Church. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Warren with arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
