Mrs. Veda Vassar Holsclaw, 88, of Manila, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Manila Nursing Center. Born in Fulton, Miss., to the late Troy Parker and Alvia Christian Parker, she was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Holsclaw was a retired nurse for Dr. Shaneyfelt. She was a member of Baptist Women and enjoyed doing church work, making crafts, cooking and baking.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tommy Vassar and Odell Holsclaw; a son, Larry Vassar; brothers Graden and Gordon Parker; and sisters Florence Dozier, Vivian Glover, Bertha Butz and Earline Enderson.

Mrs. Holsclaw leaves her children, Pat Steele and husband, Keith, of Marked Tree, Judy Faulkner and husband, Rayburn, of Caraway, Jimmy Vassar and wife, Debbie, of Paragould, and Pam Hester and husband, Jimmy, of Manila;

A sister, Ruth Tounzen of Blytheville;

Four sisters-in-law Ova Dean Meacham Bearden, Connie Parker, Sherry Vassar and Helen Vassar;

A brother-in-law, Grady Vassar;

Seven grandchildren Kyle Vassar and wife Whitney, Kerri Breckenridge and husband, Lael, Jennifer Williams and husband, Kevin, Andi Wagner and husband, Michael, Kelli Bradfield and husband, Toby, Stacy Faulkner and Joel Steele; and

Nine great-grandchildren, Justin Williams, Jake Steele, Joeliann Steele, Micah Wagner, Presley Wagner, Lily Beth Breckenridge, Taylor Bradfield, Railey Bradfield and Grayson Bradfield.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today in the Westside Baptist Church in Manila with the Rev. Richard Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery. The family received visitors from 9:30 until service time today at the church. Pallbearers were grandsons Kyle Vassar, Toby Breckenridge, Lael Breckenridge, Kevin Williams, Joel Steele, Michael Wagner and Justin Williams.
