James Thomas Peterson Jr., 82, of Jonesboro, formerly of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, in Jonesboro.

He was born on July 15, 1929, in Blytheville to the late James Thomas Peterson Sr. and Landys Solomon Peterson.

James was an active member of Cornerstone Methodist Church in Jonesboro. He was also a longtime member of First Methodist Church in Blytheville, where he acted as Sunday School superintendant for many years. James was a very loved and respected man, who loved children. His kind way and endless hugs will certainly be missed by many.

James graduated from Blytheville High School with the class of 1947. He served in the United States Army for two years and was employed by Arkansas Power and Light/Entergy in Blytheville for 47 years before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nora Simpson Peterson; a brother, Robert Henry Peterson of Los Angeles; and a sister, Carolyn Ann Swearengen of Blytheville.

James is survived by his wife of six years, Barbara Gurley Peterson;

Stepdaughters, Stacey Newcomb and Gina Jaksic;

Grandchildren Aleks Jaksic, Andriana Jaksic, Adam Jaksic, Anna Kinsey, Taylor Kinsey, Ryan Newcomb and Kaylan Newcomb; and

Many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cobb Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider memorials made to Cornerstone Methodist Church, 1910 Disciple Drive, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
