Money owed to IRS did not cease to exist

Friday, September 9, 2011

To the editor:

I have spent many sleepless nights over this. I never taught, nor would I ever teach, one of mine to accept anything that was done to them. The money owed to the IRS did not cease to exist. It is somewhere, and that somewhere can be found if looked for.

Why should the people of Blytheville be taxed or asked to give up anything to replace this money? The money is somewhere, and if toes must be stepped on to account for it, they will just have to be stepped on. It is better than becoming a partner to something that might lead to your demise.

By taxing more or threatening to take away or making the threat that Blytheville may come to a place where it is no longer a city only makes it look more like a conspiracy. I am close to all parties involved, so I have no reason to lean one way or the other. I am handicapped and no longer play golf, so closing the golf course has no affect on me.

As a person looks at Libya, Syria or other nations and Blytheville, they will see why people rebel. Once a person sees that his elected government -- that he put his trust in -- is no longer honest with him, he will do one of two things. He will either sit back and take it, or he will rebel. As long as the effect is only going to affect him, he might be able to take it, but when it is something that affects his children and their children he must act.

Like I have said, I am close to all parties, so I have no reason to lean any direction, but right is right and wrong is wrong. If the money taken from the taxpayers was misappropriated, or whatever, it is time the taxpayer was told rather than covering it up.
