Companies should be careful about spilling metal

Friday, August 26, 2011

To the editor:

I have been meaning to comment to the Kinder Morgan commentary for weeks now and am finally getting around to it.

For as much money as Kinder Morgan is wililng to invest in creating a riverside view, I wish they would invest half that money to pick up the massive amounts of scrap metal that is dropped along the route from Teneris Hickman to Kinder Morgan. I personally have had to have two tires replaced and three slow leaks fixed from the metal on the road, just in the year I have lived on County Road 967.

I would love for anyone to drive that route and see the horrible sights of large pieces of metal bands and small corkscrew pieces in the road and in the ditch. It is shameful that they dump this metal and don't see fit to clean it up.

Part of the problem is that Tenaris fills the trucks too full, then there is not cover on the trucks, and finally the drivers speed down the road with metal falling out at every bump.

That's the issue I have with Kinder Morgan wanting to spend money to "improve" our community while littering.

Thanks for listening to my soap box.
