Mrs. Elsia Lillian Vowell, 91, of Jonesboro, formerly of Blytheville, died Monday, May 30, 2011, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Blytheville to Ernest and Nannie (Lucy) Wilson, she was a lecturer for Weight Watchers for 20 years and also volunteered at First Baptist Church for the Wednesday night dinners for about 20 years.

Mrs. Vowell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro and former member of the First Baptist Church in Blytheville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Vowell; and a son, Van Vowell.

She leaves her children, Melinda (and Dennis) Miller of Jonesboro and Jackie Fitzner of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.;

Her brothers, Burl (and Betty) Wilson of Kansas City, Ezell (and Billie) Wilson of Blytheville;

A brother-in-law, Marvin Kortan of Jonesboro; and

Two grandchildren, Wesley (and Brandi) Miller of Jonesboro and David (and Holly) Miller of Springfield, Mo.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m.Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery with Dennis Miller officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 pm Thursday at Cobb Funeral Home.
