Joyce Mann Chiles Mathews

Mrs. Joyce Mann Chiles Mathews left this world peacefully Thursday, May 6, 2011, to go to be with the Lord she loved. Joyce was a resident of Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville, Tenn., where she was cared for by a loving staff. She was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Ruleville, Miss., to Myrtle and Victor Mann. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother -- as well as friend to all she knew.

Mrs. Mathews was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Osceola where she served faithfully for almost 50 years as WMU leader, Sunday School teacher, choir member and many other positions. Mrs. Mathews was preceded in death by her husband Russell Bowers Chiles; her husband James Mathews; and her brother Ray Mann.

She leaves the family who loved her, a sister Billie Gaines Mann;

Two sons Russ Chiles Jr., and his wife, Becky, and Ron Chiles and his wife, Jo Anne;

A daughter Vicki Purifoy and her husband, John;

Six grandchildren, Trey, Missy, Jeremy and Colby Chiles, Michael and Drew Purifoy; and

Eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Roller Swift Funeral Home Tuesday, May 10, 2011, and Joyce was laid to rest next to her husband, Russell Chiles Sr. To those who would like to honor her memory, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Osceola, AR, or the organization of your choice.

Visitation was held from 1-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Roller-Swift Funeral Home with graveside services at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens immediately following at 2 p.m.
