Mr. Kenneth Darrell Overman, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at his home in Blytheville. He was born July 17, 1930, in Leachville, to Robert Lee and Blanche Garrett Overman. He moved with his family to Arbyrd, Mo., in 1942. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Overman was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served in the Korean War and was a longtime member of the American Legion. He moved to Blytheville with his wife and children in 1958 and worked for the Base Exchange service station at Blytheville Air Force Base for several years. After that he left the Base Exchange to start his own business and successfully operated many businesses for about 25 years until his retirement.

He was an avid hunter and was a charter member of Ebenezer Hunting Club of Warren, Ark. He was a loyal fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He leaves his wife, Shirley Hopper Overman of the home;

A daughter Donna Shirleen Peden of Naples, Fla.;

A son, Randy Mark Overman of Blytheville;

A foster daughter, Toni Hopper Burwell of Clinton, Tenn.;

Five grandchildren, Christie Gibson of Destin, Fla., Jonathan Bailey of Naples, Fla., Kristopher Overman and Lauren Overman of Blytheville and Hannah Burwell of Clinton, Tenn.;

Five great-grandchildren, Bailey and Garrett Gibson of Destin, Fla., Morgan and Brendan Bailey of Naples, Fla., and Dylan Overman of Cordova, Tenn.; and

Two brothers, Dan Overman of Lake Forest, Calif., and Robert Overman of Poplar Bluff, Mo.
