Mrs. Dorothy Newman, 87, of Blytheville, passed from this life Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born in Blytheville to Lee and Mattie Bell Campbell Moore, she was a homemaker and a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Mrs. Newman was very active in her church where she served as past church secretary, taught The Mary Martha Sunday School Class for several years and worked in the kitchen where she served on the Food Committee. A special gift God gave her was a servant's heart for she was a caregiver not only to her sisters and daughter-in-law but for anyone she could. She was very devoted to her family and friends, not just in words of love but her actions spoke volumes. She served her Lord with faith, friends with devotion, and family with love. Her example would be well to follow.

Her parents; husband Woodrow Lewis Newman; brothers, Edward "Alf", Elmer and Frank Moore; and sisters, Ellen Shivers and Helen Reeves, preceded her in death.

She leaves her children, Woodylynn Parish, Donita and Randal Woolsey, and Randy Newman, all of Blytheville, and Frank and Mary Newman of Houston, Texas;

A sister, Leola Moore of Blytheville;

Her grandchildren, Rae Lynn Kennon, Justin Woolsey, Franky Newman, and Laura Newman; and

Her great-grandchildren, Stephanie Miller, Brooke Kennon and Kelan Woolsey.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David King and the Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be e-mailed to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net
