Nettie Mae Richardson Woods

Sunday, March 20, 2011

Nettie Mae Richardson Woods, age 80, of Bartlett, TN, formerly of Blytheville, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. Born in Lone Oak, Arkansas to Henry William and Ethel Jackson Richardson, she was an area resident most of her life. Nettie was a homemaker, a member of North Tenth Street Baptist Church, and formerly a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Frayser-Raleigh Senior Center in Memphis, loved to play bingo, and could grow the most beautiful flowers in town.

Nettie made a decision in her later years to go back to college and get her teaching certificate. She accomplished this task and taught Early Childhood Education and other classes for a few years. She loved bowling, and traveled to different places, with St. Augustine, Florida, being her favorite. Nettie's most outstanding characteristic was the love she showed all family and friends, and especially loved time she spent with her grandchildren going to the park. Her faith in God was strong and when you spent time with her it didn't take long for her Christianity to come forth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen E. Woods; her brothers, Edward, Winford Clay, Dean, and Lewis Richardson; and sisters, Maxine and Waunice Richardson.

Nettie is survived by her children, Noel Woods of Dallas, Texas; Gina Woods Davidson and husband, David, of Bartlett, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Kelsey and Kaylee Davidson of Bartlett.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville, with Dr. Max Briley officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home.
