Ozell 'Babe' Young

Mr. Ozell "Babe" Young, 72, of Blytheville, died Feb. 27, 2011, at the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. He was born in Gurdon and had lived in Blytheville for about 50 years. He operated a house moving and demolition company until his illness.

He enjoyed his family and friends. He was a member of the True Light Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Odie Young and Mrs. Ardie Cook Young; four brothers, Odie, Alvin, Marvell and Ivory; and by an infant sister, Verdia.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Willie Mae Young of the home;

Five sons, Wilbert Price, Thomas Price and Eddie Dixon, all of Blytheville, Ozell Young Jr. of St. Louis and Anthony Young of Springfield, Mo.;

Eight daughters, Mrs. Bernice Williams and Margaret Young, both of St. Louis, Mrs. Carolyn (and Reginald) Stewart, Rosetta Dixon, Mrs. Guivenia (and Charles) Davis and Patricia Wise, all of Blytheville, Dorothy Young of South Carolina and Mrs. Sherry Harris of Memphis;

Three step-daughters, Frankie Williams, Evelyn Woods and Mary Price, all of Blytheville;

A sister, Mrs. Mary (and Dennis) Walker of Gurdon;

Six brothers, Calvin (and Gwen) Young of Rockford, Ill., Eddie (and Mag) Young of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Raymond (and Diana) Young and Alfonzo Charles (and Delia) Young, all of Prescott, Freddie (and Glenee) Young of Los Angeles, and Charles Ray Young of Helena;

Three aunts, Mrs. Josephine Hill of Camden, Mrs. Hattie Brewer of Little Rock and Irene Young of Prescott;

One uncle, Paul Young of Los Angeles;

Thirty-two grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; and

Nieces, nephews an other relatives.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Prince of Peace Church at 501 E. McHaney where the Rev. Timothy Rogers is pastor. The Rev. Jay Slaughter will officiate services. Burial will follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery under the direction of McDonald-Horne Funeral Home of Blytheville.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
