Mrs. Eunice Westbrook, 79, of Blytheville, passed from this life Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Born to Loren and Mary Lou Hall Smothers in Flint, Mich., she was the retired owner/operator of Westbrook's Fashions, an employee of Wal-Mart and a member of the First Baptist Church in Blytheville.

Every once in a while an individual will touch the lives of each person they come in contact with. Through that contact each person becomes a better person for having known them. Such was the life of this extraordinary lady. Her courage, fortitude, strength and resiliency were traits that few people possess. Yet these traits are not the only ones she had. She was the sweetest, kindest, compassionate and loving individual you would ever come across. No matter who you were, there would always be that smile and her concern for the events in your life. The love and devotion she showed to her family, God, church and her friends was unmatched and truly an example. Her Christian principles were evident in her everyday life and walk with God. This remarkable lady will truly be missed by her family and friends and would be upset if she knew these words were being said about her, yet no one is more deserving.

Mrs. Westbrook was a member of the First Baptist Church Choir and the Jr. Auxiliary. After surviving cancer for 10 years she recently discovered a needed cause and was instrumental in the startup of the Blytheville branch of the Memphis Cancer Society Flying Colors.

Her parents; husband of 51 years, Thomas Edward Westbrook Sr.; a brother, Dewayne Smothers; and a sister, Elsie Delores "Norris" Peppel, preceded her in death.

She leaves her children, Dr. Thomas "Tommie" and Freda Westbrook Jr. of Blytheville, Steven and Susan Westbrook of Jonesboro, Leisa and Kevin Marsh of Little Rock, Terri Fisher of Benton, Scott and Angie Westbrook of Kansas City, Mo.; and

Fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary with the Rev. Greg Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9-11 a.m., also at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
