Osceola coach arrested, suspended

OSCEOLA -- Osceola Seminole Coach Mark Williams has been arrested and put on a 30-day sus- pension from his duties at the school.

According to Larry Robinson with the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, Williams was arrested and charged with possession of firearms by certain persons; and two counts of felony theft by receiving.

Robinson said the thefts occurred in the farming community of Carson Lake where Williams resided.

District Judge Shannon Langston set Williams' bond at $150,000. At the time of his arrest, Williams was on felony probation from Missouri to Arkansas.

Mike Cox, superintendent of the Osceola School District, said, as of this past Friday, Williams was suspended for the next 30 days.

"I am required by law to allow him 30 days to request a hearing before the board before I recommend termination to the board," Cox explained. "He will have this 30 days to request a hearing before the school board. At the end of this 30 days, I plan to recommend the board termi-

nate his contract."
