Mrs. Mary Lou Robinson, 85, of Osceola, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola.

She was born in Luxora, the daughter of Walter B. Mabins and Jedsia Gatlin Mabins.

She was educated in the Luxora Public Schools and was a graduate of Tennessee State University in Nashville. While a student at Tennessee State, she met the love of her life, Sandy A. Robinson Jr. and they were married for more than 58 years until his death Jan. 8, 2011. Her parents, husband and brother, Rev. Howard Mabins, preceded her in death.

She was a charter member of Gospel Temple Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. She had been Church Secretary for many years and was a member of the Mother's Board. She lived an exemplary Christian life.

She was a retired teacher, having taught in the Luxora Elementary School until her retirement. She loved her students with a passion and only wanted the best for all of them. She gave her best and expected the best from them in return. Her greatest reward was their success.

She leaves her daughter, Mrs. Vickie Richardson of Blytheville;

One son, Vonzell Robinson and his wife, Phyllis, of Marion;

Four sisters, Mrs. Pearlina Mills of Swansea, Ill., Mrs. Martha Moore of Osceola, Mrs. Cloteria Brown and her husband, Willie, of Blytheville, and Ms. Wilma Mabins of St. Louis; and

Nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Promiseland Church of God and Christ on South Highway 61 in Osceola with Elder Johnny L. Moore, pastor. The Rev. Michael Kinnie will officiate. Burial will follow at Whiteside Gardens in Osceola. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Gospel Temple Church in Luxora.
