Willean Valley

Willean Valley, 76, of Blytheville, died Jan. 17, 2011 at Gosnell Healthcare. She was born at Armorel, the daughter of Willie Valley and Mrs. Mattie L. Rice Valley. She was a Harrison High School graduate and attended Arkansas Baptist College and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

She taught in the Blytheville School system at Burdette Elementary then moved to East St. Louis, Ill. She retired from teaching about 1990.

She was a member of the True Light Missionary Baptist Church since childhood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Bobby Brown and Charles Valley.

She leaves a sister, Mrs. Vivion Ware and her husband, Russell, of Blytheville;

A brother, Robert Brown and his wife, Betty of St. Louis; and

Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at True Light Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Slaughter, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery at Yarbro under the direction of McDonald-Horne Funeral Home of Blytheville.
