Mr. Jerry Lewis Carter, 56, of Blytheville, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. He was born in Blytheville, the son of J.T. Carter and Mrs. Samella Lee Carter. He attended Blytheville schools.

He leaves six sisters, Mrs. Ella Day and her husband, Tommie, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Ms. Diane Carter (Charlie Hoy), Ms. Linda Carter (Grady Fowler), Mrs. Brenda Carter-Sims and Ms. Tammy Carter, all of Blytheville, and Ms. Darlene Brinson of St. Louis;

Five brothers, Preston Lee of Cincinnati, Ohio, Willie Carter and his wife, Richelle and Tony Daniels, all of Blytheville, Maurice Carter and Tony Carter, both of St. Louis;

His friend and companion of many years, Mrs. Frances Wells and her son, Jack Wyatt of Blytheville; and

Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at True Light Missionary Baptist Church at 1100 Lilly Street in Blytheville. The Rev. Jay Slaughter, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery under the direction of McDonald-Horne Funeral Home of Blytheville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
