Sandy A. Robinson Jr.

Mr. Sandy A. Robinson Jr., 85, of Osceola, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center-Osceola.

Born in Keiser, he was the son of Sandy A. Robinson and Babe Rose Cole Robinson, who preceded him in death; as did two sisters, Catherine McIntosh and Jessie Culberson; and two brothers, John Robinson and Colie Robinson.

He was a member of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Luxora where he had served as a Trustee. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and a veteran of World War II. He taught at the Keiser Public School for more than 35 years prior to his retirement.

He was a graduate of Mississippi Industrial College, Holly Springs, Miss., and had done further study at Shorter College, Christian Brothers College and other colleges. He was a graduate of John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science also.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary L. Robinson of the home;

A daughter, Mrs. Vickie Richardson of Blytheville;

A son, Vonzell Robinson and his wife, Phyllis, of Marion;

A sister, Mrs. Louise Dickens of Talledaga, Ala.;

A brother, Carl Robinson and his wife, Betty, of Detroit; and

Eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Gospel Temple Church in Luxora. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem MB Church with Dr. Moses Black, pastor, and the Rev. Michael McKinnie officiating. Burial will follow at Whiteside Gardens.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McDonald-Horne Funeral Home of Blytheville.
