Steele man arrested

CARUTHERSVILLE -- Caruthersville Police arrested a Steele man over the weekend on assault charges, according to reports.

Saturday at 2 a.m., officers were on patrol when they found a 26-year-old female from Steele, who had been the victim of an alleged domestic assault with facial bruising and bleeding. While investigating, officers arrested a 32-year-old male from Steele for the assault. The suspect was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail in Caruthersville, and charged with first-degree assault. The female victim was taken by ambulance to Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti for treatment of her injuries.

Police were called on Sunday to the parking lot area of Lady Luck Casino in Caruthersville, for a report of an assault. Officers found the victim, a 21-year-old female from Osceola, who had been physically assaulted by her 32-year-old boyfriend, also of Osceola. The boyfriend fled the scene before officers arrived and will face the filing of formal charges by the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney's office.
