In July of 2018, former Mississippi County Sheriff’s deputy Brandon Bryan was terminated from the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department for “not dealing well with the public” and “used his position to advance his own interest. Attorney Jason Owens, who represented the county, said Sheriff Dale Cook fired Bryan — Cook’s nephew — after “a long line of problems when dealing with the public...There are a number of circumstances where this particular employee didn't deal well with the public and used his position to advance his own interest...". ...
