The Blytheville Chickasaws bounced back from their Friday night loss with a 52-41 win over conference rival Greene County Tech Tuesday night at Chickasaw Gym. The Lady Chicks nearly pulled off another comeback in the first game but the Lady Eagles held them off for a 61-56 victory.

Display to feature local photographers

For the month of February, the gallery of The Ritz Civic Center, 306 W. Main in Blytheville, will display a unique collection of photographs. An opening reception for the exhibit will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Ritz. The event is free and open to the public.

Local Black History Museum reopens

The Wiley Center, located in the old Franklin School building, is the new host to Blytheville's Mini Black History Museum, created by Vera James. The museum is open to the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays by appointment.

I have a friend who suffers from a rare health condition that can sometimes be very dangerous. There is a treatment for it, but it must be administered within a certain length of time. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, she had an attack. Mississippi County EMTs took her to Great River Medical Center ER. Connie Ash, director of clinical operations met us in the ER. Within minutes, my friend was in a room, the medication was administered and she was comfortable...
