'Prince of Tides' author latest for 'Stardust' series

Author Pat Conroy, best-known for "The Prince of Tides," will appear in Nov. 4 in Blytheville, the latest in the "Stardust on Blytheville" lecture series presented by the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce. Senior Centers not just a job for Suzanne Allred

Suzanne Allred, director of the Mississippi County Senior Centers, visited the Blytheville Lion's Club Tuesday and gave a presentation explaining operations of the centers, which are "not just my job, but my passion and my ministry." Ten years ago, Allred was a stay-at-home mom who was beginning to think about going back to work, when an acquaintance at Ruddle Road Church of God, where she is a member, asked her to help with the county meals-on-wheels program, which is run by the Senior Center. ...

Rifles will help county deputies

A reception on Thursday afternoon revealed the 20 semi-automatic rifles that citizens and businesses of Mississippi County purchased for use by county deputies. The 20 rifles were displayed on a table in the lobby of the sheriff's office. Mississippi County Sheriff James Sanders thanked everyone who was involved in the purchase. He singled out longtime Justice of the Peace Donnie McDaniel, who thought of and spearheaded the fundraising effort which purchased the rifles...
