New name for festival: 'Main Street Mayfest'

Springtime on The Mall event has a new name: "Main Street Mayfest." The new name was revealed in Wednesday's noon Main Street Blytheville Board meeting, where there was not a quorum, but after an e-mail vote the name became official. Peggy Lemons, president of the Main Street Blytheville Board, told board members that the Springtime on The Mall committee received several "great" suggestions, but after discussing each one the committee picked Main Street Mayfest. ...

Police say shooting was self-inflicted

Authorities have ruled Kenneth Carter Jr. died of a self-inflicted wound, and he was not murdered. The 27-year-old Blytheville man was found dead in an abandoned house in the 2300 block of Kenwood on Feb. 22. "Based on evidence at the scene, deputy coroners report and the state medical examiners office report, the body of Kenneth Carter Jr. had been at the location for an extended period of time," Blytheville assistant police chief Marvin Crawford said...
